Arizona Recap

Arizona was great. I feel like I was gone a month, even though I was only gone about five days. I left Wednesday evening at about 6:00 p.m. and arrived in Arizona at 7:30 p.m. (Arizona time). We didn't do too much that evening, just got some groceries and headed home and relaxed.

Thursday morning we had to be at the hospital at 8:30 a.m. for Jenn's surgery that was supposed to be at 10:30 a.m. Well they didn't take her back for surgery until 11:30 a.m. so we didn't leave the hosptial until around one o'clock I think. Her surgery went well except for a minor reaction to one of the pain meds she got. She had some hives on her arm that went away after some Benedryl. So most of Thursday she slept and I worked on my notes and work stuff.

Friday we went out to eat at "On the Border" and then went to the Air Force Base area. We waited for quite a while til they started taking off and landing and I got some pictures of both. It was pretty cool to watch. It's a training base. Later that afternoon we went over by the Estrella Mountains and took some pictures. The Phoenix International Raceway is tucked in the mountains so that was pretty cool too. We went down this road and there were people parked there and this guy was dressed in camo and had a big gun. We are hoping it was just a paintball gun or something but you can't tell these days. It was a bit creepy. Jenn just laughed at them as we drove by. I made sure the doors were locked. We stopped by where they are building her house to see what progess they made on it. We also went by her school and picked up some papers.

Saturday we got moving earlier and went up in the White Tank Mountains. It was really neat and I loved taking pictures of the wildlife, cacti, and mountains. We spent quite a bit of time doing that and even talked to one of the park rangers. He told us that when the lizard we saw flipped up his tail at us, that it meant he was flipping us off. We were entertained. Then these four guys showed up in a car and we decided that since it was just the two of us, we should get moving. We then headed to her aunt and uncle's house in Surprise, AZ. The house was absolutely beautiful. It poured rain while we were there and carried on a bit. Apparently they are in the middle of the monsoon season right now. I am sure the Hurricane Gustav had something to do with it too. After we left there, we went to Margaritaville and had dinner. We swung by the University of Phoenix Stadium so I could take a few pics and then headed home.

Sunday we got up really early and headed to Sedona. It was an absolutely breathtaking view of all the red rock mountains. It wasn't really sunny so I wasn't able to catch how beautiful with my camera, but man, it was awesome. It took us about two hours to get there and we took the scenic route to get there. It was a little freaky looking down from the road and it being a loooonngg way down! We did lots of shopping, had lunch, and then got soaked getting back to the car. It was really pouring. We got some more pictures as left town and probably made some other drivers angry. I actually hung out the window to get one picture, lol. I think I managed to get souviners for everyone, so that was good. I even brought my husband back a scorpian sucker. We got home at about 4 p.m. and just hung out for the rest of the day.

Monday we mostly just chilled and relaxed. I got myself all packed up. We had lunch at Manny's Mexican Restaurant and it was pretty good. We took some pictures back at the apartment and then headed out to the airport so I could get on the plane. The airport was pretty busy. My flight left at about 6:00 p.m Arizona time and arrived at 11:00 p.m. our time. Steve was there to pick me up. We got home at about 2 a.m. That was about it for my trip!
