Car Accident
I was in a car accident this morning on my way to work. I was heading towards Ft. Madison running about 65 with the cruise on and a lady pulled across the lane in front of me to turn onto a side road. She said the sun was in her eyes and she didn't see me. Who knows. But I t-boned her and it did quite a number on Steve's car. I think it's probably totaled but we won't know that until the insurance adjuster takes a look at it. I went to the hospital by ambulance because I was having chest pains and generally felt pretty bad. They x-rayed me and everything came back fine so that was a plus. My knees hit the dash though, so they are pretty banged up. I also have a spot on my forehead that looks like a carpet burn from the air bag. I also have a bruise on my upper left chest from the seatbelt and of course I feel sore all over. The doctor told me to not go back to work until Monday. The girl was ticketed for failure to yield and thankfully she has insurance. Hopefully it won't be a hassle to get everything taken care of and either get the car fixed or get a new one. Steve went this afternoon to get a rental and they gave him a Mazda 3 so that should be interesting to drive. Everyone has been super nice and helpful, from the ambulance and hospital staff, so the insurance people. I think I am going to take a nap now, because the doctor gave me percocet and muscle relaxers for pain and it's starting to kick in. I am very thankful that God was watching out for me this morning and always.

Okay, now, seriously....
Okay, I went to buy a pair of dress pants for work this weekend and it would appear that I am "between sizes". My regular size that I have been wearing are too big now, but the size smaller are a bit snug. So I am mildly uncomfortable and it's annoying. My solution to this is a good one however. I am going to get back on the dang wagon and lose some more weight so that the smaller sizes fit me right! I changed my weigh-in day back to Mondays because I feel like I was cheating by having them on Friday when I knew that I would be the lightest throughout the week. It isn't an accurate weight for how I would be on a daily basis. Plus it will motivate me to be more careful on the weekend instead of using the week to work off what I gained over the weekend. And I will be able to start over fresh today, which I need. I have been trying to figure out a good time to exercise that I would actually follow through with. I can't right after work, though that would probably be the most likely time for me to follow through. However, Steve is still sleeping most days when I get home and the treadmill is in the bedroom so that will not work. My next thought was to get up early in the morning and work out. That would give me some alone time to be awake and reflect and prepare for my day. The more I think of this, the better it sounds but the follow through will be difficult. It won't work on Mondays because Steve will be home and sleeping but I think it will work the rest of the week. So, perhaps on Tues - Saturday I will get my butt up and spend at least 10-20 mins on the treadmill to start out with and go from there. So tomorrow will be my first day to try to get up and do this. I also want to start doing crunches again cause my tummy felt so good when I was doing those in November!
It feels like there is so much going on right now in my life. I have been working on getting caught up at work and staying caught up. I am doing well with the staying caught up, not so well with the getting caught up part. I have several months worth of notes from last year that I do not have done. So, one step at a time, I am doing well staying caught up, now I am going to work on getting caught up, slowly but surely. My truck is having issues yet again. There is a crack in the bottom of the radiator so while they temporarily fixed it right now, I will have to put in a new radiator eventually. I haven't even been driving it lately and I am used to driving Steve's car by now. I am going to try to increase the money that we are saving in a monthly basis so I can afford a new car in the next year or so. I also want to be able to afford the changes that I want to make in the house.
Speaking of house stuff, we bought some new handles from Lowe's for the kitchen cabinets yesterday to try out. I got four different kinds that I liked to try on and see which one works the best. Ironically enough, the one I wasn't sure if I liked ended up being the one that looked the best on the cabinets and I really like it now. And because the black one looked the best, I can just take the hinges off the cabinet and spray paint them to match. That will save use quite a bit of money (about $60)since we won't have to replace them with new ones. So with some of our tax money, we are going to get the new handles and a big waterproof/firesafe in which to put our house abstract and other odds and ends that we would not want to lose in the event of a fire or flood. I also priced refrigerators (ours is used so who knows how long it will last) and wrote down measurements. We also looked at tankless water heaters (so much more economically sound!) which are expensive but worth it - you never run out of hot water! As we are making renovations on the house, I am trying to be economically minded and get appliances and such that are energy effecient. Not only would that help with our bills, and be kind to the environment, but also increase the resale value of the house. The first major thing we will have to replace will likely be the furnace though. It's over twenty years old and is probably not very energy efficient in the least. Steve did install a new thermostat yesterday so hopefully that will help. The old one almost didn't work anymore and it was cheap. Our air conditioner is an Energy Star and is relatively new so it should be good to go for several more years. Of course there are basic things that I want to do, including painting the front room and pulling up the carpet and refinishing the hard wood floors. Those I can do by myself so, no biggie.
So, this has been a long post but an overdue one. I am back on the proverbial wagon and looking forward to staying there.

while watching The Bachelor....
This has been quite a busy couple of weeks. I have been trying to stay caught up on notes like I said before and have been doing well doing so. I had a bunch of letters to write too for different reasons and am almost done with all of those. My truck was broken down once again. I got it back on Friday afternoon and it was diagnosed with a crack in the radiator. So they patched it up and told me it would last quite awhile. My grandpa told me not to let it go too long and that he would help me put a new one in if it was more cost effective. We will see. Work has been pretty busy and I have had plenty to do to keep up with that. Steve has not been feeling well and I am kinda concerned about him. I am looking forward to some alone time with him this weekend for Valentine's day and hope that he is feeling better by then. I haven't been doing well on tracking my food intake and I know that I have gained a couple of pounds. I don't know why I am having such an issue but I think it might be laziness. Sometimes it's a real hassle to find all the foods on the website. But I need to quit coming up with excuses and just keep track of stuff. I know there was a bunch of other stuff that I was going to blog about but I can't remember what they were. So I guess I will get back to watching The Bachelor.

What a week
This week has been quite busy but I have been doing better on staying caught up with my notes. Now I just have to go back over the past year and get those caught up. Yikes. Today will be a slow day at work so I am getting some of my group stuff caught up right now. I didn't post last week but I gained 0.6lbs last week and lost 0.2lbs this week. So really I am kind of hovering where I am. I don't think I am plateauing yet but that I need to get back into exercising regularly. I have been very lax about doing so and I can tell the difference. While the weight has stayed about the same, the inches that I have lost have come back a little. Anyways, I need to get back to my work.

Fantastic!
I had a great weigh-in this morning and I lost 3.6lbs this week for a total of 19.2lbs. I am almost down to my pre-Christmas weight! I am hoping that I can keep this going despite the fact that I am sick with a head cold deal and not feeling like doing anything. Today will be a short day because the schools are all out so my parenting group is cancelled. So I will be able to leave at three and go home. I need the rest cause I feel like crap. Not much else is really going on. So I guess this will be a short but very happy post!

Hmmm....
Well it's been awhile since I updated. I gained about six pounds over the holidays (about three per week). I think we just had too much going on for me to keep up with eating well. I tried to eat less but I will still eating really rich foods and goodies of course. I also haven't been feeling well and my body has been having some stuff going on. So this week I only lost 0.8 lbs of the weight that I gained. However, when I got on the scale this morning, I was three pounds lighter and that was good. I just have to keep that going until next week on my weigh-in day. I should have more relaxed day at work compared to the rest of the week that was kinda crazy. So I have organized my desk and am waiting for my ten o'clock by listening to my Twilight soundtrack. My hubby got it for me for Christmas and I really like it. If my health stuff doesn't get back on track this week then my doc is going to X-Ray my abdomen. :( Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Christmas
I had a pretty good Christmas this year. We has several Christmases to go to this year. We started out with my Dad's house on Christmas Eve afternoon. From my dad I got a Dirk Pitt novel that I will try to read even though it's not my particular flavor of book. I also got some DVDs, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (my favorite of the four), Fred Claus, Step-Brothers, and a Larry the Cable Guy Christmas movie. Later that evening we went to Steve's mom's house for Christmas and dinner. I got a Snowman candle holder, a crockpot that I wanted that the lid will hook closed on, gloves, a reed diffuser (from Steve's brother), and a couple of picture frames. We didn't go to church that evening because the roads were slick and our Christmas eve service isn't until 11pm. Christmas morning Steve and I celebrated our third Christmas together. He got me a pair of slippers, the Enchanted soundtrack, the Twilight soundtrack, the 20th Edition of Dirty Dancing DVD, pajamas, my KitchenAid mixer, earrings, a calendar, two computer games that I wanted, and stocking stuffers like scrunchis and nail polish. We spent the day enjoying each others company and getting out the new stuff we got. Then we went to my mom and Terry's house that evening for turkey dinner and Christmas with the immediate family. I got an 8 foot ladder, some picture frames, a "Faith, Hope, and Love" plaque, and lots of fun stocking stuffers. We also got movies from my lil brother and movie theatre gift certificates and a gift certificate to eat out from my older bro. We had dinner at Steve's sister Michelle's house on Friday. She and her husband got me a gift certificate to Kohl's and got us a gift certificate to Walmart to share. His dad was there from Virginia and got me earrings/necklace, a J bookmark, a candle, a prayer journal and devotional, a lettering thing for the wall, body spray, and lotion. We also got money from grandparents on my side. So that's just what I got for Christmas and not counting all the stuff Steve got. All in all, I got a lot of neat stuff and have enjoyed using the gift cards to get stuff that I get to pick out. Hopefully I remembered everything cause I obviously got a lot of stuff this year!
My sweetie is sleeping right now because he has to go to work tonight. I can't complain too much though because since he is going to work tonight, he won't have to work on New Year's eve! Yay! We will be staying home, most likely. I don't really feel the need to go out and party of the day that all the drunk drivers are out trying to kill people. I am glad Steve won't be out on the road that night going to work too. I think that's it for now. I spent the afternoon getting the Christmas stuff put away and will have Steve help me with the tree when he gets up. Hard to believe it's over!
